Miami Brows: Eyebrow Tattoo vs. 3d Embroidery/Hairstrokes

Eyebrow Embroidery uses small "hairstrokes" to look incredibly realistic
(hairstrokes by Christopher Drummond, Miami Brows)
Classic eyebrow tattoos are solid, dark (potentially changing color over time), and not very natural looking!

                What is 3D EYEBROW EMBROIDERY?

I get asked this all of the time.  I think there is a lot of confusion between eyebrow embroidery and traditional eyebrow tattoos (since both are called eyebrow tattoos).  So, I will try to demystify what a 3D Hairstroke/eyebrow embroidery/featherstroke tattoo is and how it differs from the "sharpie tattoo" that everyone dreads.

First,   While both traditional eyebrow tattoos and 3D Hairstrokes are technically "tattoos" there are a few MAJOR differences.  The major difference is that a traditional tattoo (the kind NOBODY wants to have---you know what I'm talking about....the ones that look like you drew them with a sharpie permanent marker...)  this tattoo goes deep into the skin, and permanently colors your flesh.  This means you will have it for 10-25 years or MORE!
A Hairstroke tattoo (also called 3D hairstroke, eyebrow embroidery, and featherstroke) only goes into the top layers of skin.  This means it fades in only a few years.  This is why hairstrokes are called semi-permanent.  This type of tattoo is great if you are scared of committment, and don't want something that will last for the rest of your life!  If you did not get a hairstroke tattoo touched up, it would disappear fully in about 3 years.  :)

Next, Eyebrow Embroidery is considered a cosmetic procedure, while a traditional eyebrow tattoo is not.  Hairstrokes use different ink, and usually a different type of machine that what they use to apply the heavy dark solid tattoos.  It is a much more forgiving ink, that is created to work with different skin tones, and made to look like facial hair.  Traditional tattoo ink comes in very basic colors (black, brown, red, greeen, etc), whereas cosmetic ink is created for the face.....so, it looks much more natural.  Also the ingredients in cosmetic tattoo ink is more gentile, and made with organic pigments.

Finally, 3D Hairstrokes/eyebrow embroidery/featherstrokes (like the ones done here in my Miami studio at Miami Brows---sorry for the shameless plug) are typically made to be softer looking, more natural, and much less "obtrusive" than a solid tattoo.  When done correctly, hairstrokes do not look like a tattoo.  They have texture and color and depth, unlike a solid tattoo.

So, the days of the "old school" tattoo are numbered.  Look around in your area for a CERTIFIED hairstroke artist (like me!).  Do your research.  Make sure they have credentials, have been certified, and that they have a lot of pictures of their work.  There is very little regulation for eyebrow embroidery in Miami, so be sure the person knows what they are doing.  And don't look for the cheapest.  Remember, you get what you pay for, and you don't want cheap looking EYEBROWS!!!!

I hope this helped those of you looking into getting eyebrow embroidery here in Miami, or anywhere else in the US!

Eyebrow Embroidery in Miami: What is it

In my years of performing eyebrow embroidery (also called 3D eyebrows, hairstrokes, microblading, among other things), I constantly get the same questions.  Since hairstrokes are relatively new in Miami, many people don't know what the technique is, and how it is performed

Many people think that hairstrokes are a traditional eyebrow tattoo.  This is not true.  Hairstrokes are actually created individually.  The practitioner is actually placing a semi-permanent tattoo on the surface of the skin stroke by stroke.  The result is a very realistic, natural looking and soft appearing textured look.

Hairstrokes actually look like little hairs on your skin.  It is not a block tattoo like traditional eyebrow tattoos.  I actually try not to say the word tattoo to people, since they get the image of an "old school" eyebrow tattoo.

All about Eyebrow Enhancement Services in Miami

WHAT IS EYEBROW EMBROIDERY????
by Christopher Drummond of Miami Brows
www.miamibrows.com

Many women come to me looking for help with their eyebrows.  Some have over-plucked their brows, and they never grew back, some just have sparse eyebrows, and others want to reshape and restyle the look of their brows.  Whatever the issue is, I gladly help them to become more comfortable when someone looks them in the eyes.

Most people are familiar with eyebrow tattoos, and usually wince when they hear that term.  I know I do!  After all, we have all seen bad eyebrow tattoos.....the faded colors, the changed color, the "stamped" appearance that they give.....not always the best look!

Here in Miami, I have perfected a technique called Eyebrow Embroidery.  What is that?  How does it work?  Is it an actual tattoo????????

Eyebrow Embroidery (also known as 3D eyebrows, Hairstrokes, featherstrokes, and many other terms) are tiny little hairs that are tattooed onto the brow area.  The result is a textured-looking, very natural looking eyebrow.  Instead of the tattoo "stamp", the brows actually look like actual hair!!

I pride myself in being a true artist and perfectionist, and I won't be happy until you are.
Here are a few before and after pictures of the 3D eyebrows I have created.

Semi Permanent Eyebrows in Miami by Christopher Drummond: TIPS for Eyebrow Embroidery

Hi everyone!

Since I launched Miami Brows three months ago, it's been a total shock at the success we have had so far.
Not only have I worked on dozens of "eyebrow challenged" women in the Maimi area, I have had women come from all over the world to have me "fix" their eyebrows with my eyebrow technique called "hairstrokes" "3D eyebrow enhancement" and "eyebrow Embroidery".  I have had women from France, Chile, Canada, Spain, New York, Los Angeles all come to Miami Brows to get this procedure done....

it's been wonderful to see how happy and excited everyone is when I finish and hold the mirror up...the response is pretty unanimous:  "Oh my gosh.....I can't belive how NATURAL this looks!  IT looks like real hair!!!!!"
The truth is, I have spent many hours training and perfecting the hairstroke technique.  I use my makeup artistry to truly customize every set of brows I do, so it will fit every different face perfectly.  I consult with my client, discuss the options, stencil in the example, then get her opinion.  I have a very high approval rate, and everyone seems to love the final unveiling!

Let's face it.  Getting an eyebrow tattoo is a very personal and nerve wracking decision to make.  After all, this is your FACE we are talking about!  I suggest you do your research, find out all you can about this new procedure, see who the best person is to do it on you, and get an initial consultation so you are comfortable with them.  I will also provide references if asked.  I have many happy clients I can refer you to!

It's very important to get someone with specific experience with HAIRSTROKES, and not just eyebrow tattoos.  They are very different!  Very few people are trained on hairstrokes/eyebrow embroidery in Miami (to my knowledge, Miami Brows is the only location you can get professional hairstrokes in Miami).  Many tattoo artists claim they can do hairstrokes, and this is far from the truth.  Ask for pictures, website, referrals, and most of all, don't be afraid to ask questions.  I have seen many women who have gotten bad tattoos because they didn't do their research.
The best way to be sure you get someone good is ask someone who has had the procedure done, and who they went to....

Please check out my website at www.miamibrows.com, and decide for yourself if this is a procedure that is right for you.  If you don't use me, that's fine.  I just want to be sure that you get a good service, and are happy with your Eyebrow Hairstrokes/Eyebrow Embroidery!

Here are some before and after pictures from some of my great clients at Miami Brows in Sunny Isles, FL.  I love what I do and have a true passion for semi-permanent eyebrow tattoos in Miami!!
Let me know your thoughts.....

****PLEASE KEEP IN MIND ALL PICTURES ARE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PROCEDURE, AND COLOR WILL FADE BY 40% IN ONE MONTH!!!!********

Eyebrow Embroidery in Miami

Hi everyone...
I just wanted to post a few pictures on the procedure of Eyebrow Embroidery I do here at Miami Brows.

The whole process of hairstrokes takes about two hours from beginning to end.  This includes a consultation (to see what client wants and what I think will work), numbing of the areas to be worked on, stenciling in the "new brow, and the actual procedure itself.  Actually the actual hairstrokes only take about 40-45 minutes.  The rest of the time is prepping and creating the shape......

If you have any questions about Eyebrow Embroidery (also known as hairstrokes and featherstrokes) here in Miami, don't hesitate to call me!  My contact is on our website at www.miamibrows.com.

Pics are all "before" the procedure.  Brows are uneven,
thin, and need shaping and filling

Brows are penciled in and markings are made to
measure where new brows will be

End result is perfected, fuller more defined brows...
Look how natural the hairstrokes are.....

Which brow shape is best for you?

Here is a great post about brows and face shape.   Examples are use on celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston and Marilyn Monroe

For perfect eyebrows/eyebrow embroidery/eyebrow shaping in Miami Beach, FL check out our website at www.miamibrows.com

Eyebrow Shape to Suit Face Shape.
Long Face Shape:
In general people with longer faces suit more flat eyebrow shapes. This is because a high arch with lengthen the face further.
image
Oval Shaped Face:
People with oval shaped faces don’t have to be too specific with their eyebrow shape and most styles will suit the face shape. However in general a soft angled shape works very well.
image

Heart Shaped Face:
Rounded eyebrows will soften the face shape and take full advantage of your features.
image
Square Shaped Face:
A strong square jaw can be balanced out by strong eyebrows. A stronger colour and thicker shape will balance out the jaw. A defined peak in the eyebrow can also work to strengthen the brow and soften the jawline.
image
Diamond Shaped Face:
The angles and width of a diamond shaped face can be softened by round shaped eyebrows.
image
Round Shaped Face:
A round face can be made to appear less round, this is done by making it appear longer. High arches in the eyebrows will draw the eyes up and then down, creating the illusion of facial length.

HD Eyebrows/Eyebrow Embroidery and Permanent Makeup in Miami Questions and Answers

HD Eyebrow Embroidery and Permanent Eyebrow Makeup:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is Eyebrow Embroidery / Creative Strokes Eyebrow?
Ans: It is known as Micro-Pigmentation on the skin. It is a modern version of the "old school" facial tattoos (which almost never looked "natural").  Hair strokes and 3D eyebrows are incredibly realistic looking, and are small tattoos that are applied by hand one by one.  This means it literally looks like individual hairs, not a tattoo!!!
The color that I use is Botanical Dye (100% non toxic dyes). So it is very Safe. Color does not change to chemical colors like blue or purple too. Thus, even people with sensitive skin are safe to do it.

Q: What is the Difference between Eyebrow Embroidery & Creative Strokes Eyebrow/3D Hair Strokes?
Ans: Eyebrow Embroidery is a technique which is done by a patch of color like a tattoo,  and usually done with a 'softap'  method by hand,  not with a machine. Skin may be a little swollen for a few days depending on individual.

Q:  What is the process like?
A:  Numbing cream is used to minimize any discomfort.  I always be sure all tools are sterilized and have never been used before (sanitation is paramount).  The process takes about 2 hours in total, and about 1 hour of that is preparation time.  All in all the actual embroidery takes one hour.
During the 1 month healing process, skin may itch & scabs will peel off. As Embroidery is done by a patch of color, scabs will be more obvious & peels in big patches.
Creative Strokes Eyebrow/Hair strokes is a Newer technique, which is done by strokes & look like 'Individual Eyebrow Hair'. Looks natural. No swelling even immediately after procedure.

Q: Is it Painful & What are the Hygiene levels?
Ans: Numbing cream & lotion will be applied. Eyebrow Embroidery is more painful, as its done by a patch of color. Creative Strokes Eyebrow is less painful, & most clients feedback mention it feels like eyebrow plucking. New & sterilized needles will be used for each client. New gloves will be used for each client too.
I am always very honest with my clients.  Yes, there may be some discomfort.  However, it is totally tolerable to everyone who comes to me.  After the procedure, it feels like a mild sunburn for a few hours, then any discomfort is gone by the next day.
You may feel a little sore the next day, and that goes away quickly.

Q: How is the procedure done & How long is the procedure?
Ans: The whole procedure takes around 2 hours.
The procedure starts with Consultation, discussing into client's lifestyle & preference. Choice of color dye will be chosen. Next, the artist starts to draw the eyebrow shape. The shape is customized based on individual face shape & features. Once client is totally satisfied with the given shape, Numbing cream will be applied. (Please note: If client is not satisfied with the shape, it will be adjusted until client is satisfied) After waiting 15 mins for numbing to take effect, procedure of doing will begin.

Q:  What happens after the procedure?
A:   During 1 month healing, skin will itch & scabs might peel off. As hair stroked is done to look like individual hair, scabs are less obvious & peels in small flakes. There is basically no downtime for this technique. Clients can return to work the next day.
Petroleum Jelly must constantly be used the first week to help the brows clean and dry,  no Reynolds or acids (glycolic)  should be used.  No Swimming,  saunas,  Stanton the first week.

Q: Who will benefit from doing Permanent Makeup?
Ans: People who participate in activities such as swimming or any other sports. Those who cannot wear cosmetics due to allergies. Those who simply don't have the time. Those who don't know how to apply Makeup. Those who find difficultly in balancing their eyebrows. Those whose Makeup smudges easily due to oily skin. Those who wants to have a better eyebrow shape to compliment their face shape & features.
This is also great for cancer patients who have lost their brows due to chemotherapy.

Q: Who is not suitable to do Permanent Makeup?
Ans: People who has serious Eczema on Face. People who are in Late Stages of Diabetes.  Anyone on blood thinning meds, those who don't heal quickly,  and pregnant women should not do this procedure.

Q: How many types of Eyebrow permanent makeup are there?
Ans: 1st Generation is Eyebrow Tatoo. This is permanent & color turns green or blue over years due to the poor quality of color dye.
2nd Generation is Eyebrow Embroidery. This is semi-permanent which lasts around 2-3 years. The effect is a patch of color similar to tatoo, but smaller.   You are 'embroidering the color in with existing hairs.   They are done in strokes that resemble hairs.
3rd Generation is 3D Creative Strokes Eyebrows/Hair Strokes. This is semi-permanent which lasts around 1-2years, and usually requires touch ups. The effect is done by individual strokes & looks like “individual eyebrow hair”. Non-toxic color dye is used.
**in the video,  we use both embroidery and the hairstroke 'softap' method **  I believe that you need to use both for the best results.

Q: How long can Permanent Makeup last?
Ans: On the average up to 7-8 years, & color will totally fade off. It also depends on individual skin conditions & lifestyle.
(it is very important to use sunscreen to avoid fading) Those who swim or do sports will cause color to fade faster. As swimming has chlorine, & perspiration for sports. Those who use whitening or skin peeling products will also cause color to fade faster. Oily skin: color will fade faster. Best to touch up 1-2 years to maintain shape & color. If client wants to wait longer to touch up,they may use eyebrow pencil to color-in eyebrows before they decide to do touch up.

Q: How much does 3D / 4D Creative Eyebrow Strokes cost?
Ans: Our rates are very reasonable, lower than the market rate in those specialized permanent makeup salon. But,you are not getting anything less. As the best quality of materials, non toxic & Organic color dye are used. Together with great artistic skills, personalized & customized service, you will be sure that you are in safe hands!
So,here are the rates :-
3D Creative Strokes/hairstrokes cost $450.  This price includes one free followup/touch up (generally one month after the first visit).
Future touch ups 1-2 years or later, will cost lower depending on how much the color has faded.   Price for Touch up varies.
